My time in New York was just unbelievable! Great musicians everywhere - and I had the opportunity to study music at one of the best music schools of jazz, to play with famous jazz musicians, meet the best music professors and hear them performing live at the most famous music clubs of New York. The New York City athmosphere is just overwhelming, it’s so easy to cloce contacts to musicians and to meet people from the music business. New bands are forming-up fast and easily. After a few few weeks, I established my own band and just two months later, I found and purchased my new, great-sounding Hammond B-3 organ which is still stored in Long Island and waiting for my next trip to New York... In Harlem, I joined several sessions and received an offer to perform „Steady-Gigs“ in „Shoeman´s Cafe“. There - and in numerous other music clubs in Harlem - you can still find B3s on stage (some of them not in best shape) – and the athmosphere was always phantastic. Actually, I didn’t want to leave New York City – but finally I accepted a challenging offer from two promotors to go back to Germany. My advice to all jazz musicians and jazz lovers: Don’t miss to discover and experience and this great city... !
